June 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A U.S. tabloid in their latest edition published the excerpts from a 54-year-old licensed masseuse’s January 2009 interview with police of Portland where she accused the former Vice-President Al Gore of sexual harassment back in the year 2006 during a massage session in Portland’s trendy Lucia Hotel in October. The police did not carry on the investigation further because they there was insufficient evidence to support the allegations. However, the old complaints returned and the world heard it when the masseuse reportedly sold the story to the reported tabloid. The allegations emerged on Wednesday, just few weeks after Al Gore’s separation from Tipper Gore.
The woman called Al Gore ‘a crazed sex poodle’ as he tried to touch her sexually and made aggressive physical advances when she tried to leave during the massage session in the Portland Hotel. The woman said later that she immediately did not call police because she was afraid to become a “public spectacle” that would hamper her career. The massage therapist’s lawyer first contacted police on December 2006 but the woman was not ready for the interview, hence the police dropped the case. Later on 2009, the woman approached again and made her statement and the Portland police filed the allegation as “unwanted sexual contact”.
The former United States Vice President did not comment about the matter but his lawyers said that Al Gore categorically ‘denied’ the charges in letters to the newspaper. Police in Portland, Oregon said that they investigated the whole case but could not find enough evidence to convince them hence they dropped the case. The 62 year old former Vice-President has not been available for comments.
