Former union minister duped of over Rs.34 lakh

- Chandigarh, Oct 10 (IANS) Former civil aviation minister Harmohan Dhawan has filed a criminal complaint accusing his business partner of cheating him of over Rs.34 lakh (Rs.3.4 million), a police official said Saturday.
According to the officials of the Economic Offence Wing, Dhawan registered a complaint against S.A. Khan, his partner in a restaurant in the upmarket Sector 17 here.
“According to the complaint, there were three cheques regarding some business transactions. The accused gave two cheques to Dhawan but took away the third cheque of Rs.34,34,942 in July,” Inspector Prem Kumar said.
“We have registered a case of cheating and theft against the accused and have started our investigation,” he said.
Dhawan was a minister in the government of former prime minister Chandrasekhar in 1990-91.
