Former Reporter Jay Carney To Replace Robert Gibbs, To Be Named Press Secretary

Washington, Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Vice President Joe Biden’s communication director Jay Carney is all set to assume responsibilities as the Press Secretary of White House, it has been reported. The 45-year-old former Time Magazine reporter would be succeeding Robert Gibbs who would bid adieu to his position as the White House Press Secretary next month. Although Robert Gibbs would be stepping down from his position of the Press Secretary, he is likely to continue as an outside advisor of President Barack Obama’s administration.
The news that Jay Carney would be replacing Robert Gibbs was confirmed on Thursday by Chief of Staff William Daley through an e-mail to the media. Apart from the appointment of the former Time magazine reporter as the new Press Secretary, the e-mail also included details about a number of other changes in the staff of the Obama administration, which is the culmination of overhaul at the White House spanning across months. Jay Carney’s new role as the Press Secretary has been welcomed by officials across various quarters with many of them reiterating that the former journalist has all the skills needed to carry out the responsibilities of his new job with much elan.
Doug Hattaway, a Democrat and Communications consultant said that Jay Carney has the perfect platform to strike a balance between the demands of the job as he has a clear idea about how the media works as well as the White House. The Communications consultant further went on to add that the main priority of the job is to turn out to be a good advocate of the U.S. President while the information needs of the media is met.
