Ranchi, Dec 20 (IANS) Former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda and state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president P.N. Singh had a narrow escape Saturday when the bullet proof vehicle they were travelling in caught fire near the state capital here.According to Munda, he and Singh were returning to Ranchi in a bullet proof Tata Safari Saturday evening after campaigning for the Tamar by-election.
The vehicle suddenly caught fire near Taimara valley on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway, some 40 km from here.
Munda and Singh and former Ranchi MP Ram Tahal Cauhdhary were able to get out of the vehicle in time, the former minister said.
“We thank god. It was by the grace of god that we got down safely from the vehicle,” Munda told IANS.
Short circuit is said to be reason for the fire.
