For BJP legislator Jolly, the number tells the dream (Political Prattle)November 7th, 2008 - 2:36 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, Nov 7 (IANS) Some people wear their heart on their sleeves, but Delhi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Vijay Jolly does so on his car number plate. Go no far than the number plate of his Scorpio SUV to realise the ultimate dream of the man — DL 2F CM 0006. After all, he is the man chosen by the BJP to take on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the New Delhi constituency.
Jolly, who has been in politics for over three decades, admits he is a dreamer.
It could be over-enthusiasm or just a problem with the English language for a senior BJP leader who found himself at a loss for words to describe Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
“She is decisive, determined, aaa…,”, he faltered until a journalist helpfully added “dashing”.
The senior leader eagerly said “Yes, Yes, that too…”, prompting the assembled gathering to break into loud laughter.
Brickbats for Jaitley
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley may have emerged as the saffron party’s master strategist but he has been facing lot of criticism, especially from disgruntled candidates in Delhi who failed to get party nominations.
Many of these can be openly found discussing Jaitley’s credentials. One BJP leader said candidly: “Jaitley has never won any election; what will he understand about fighting elections?”
Jaitley, a Rajya Sabha MP, is the one who actually called the shots while giving tickets for the Delhi assembly elections on Nov 29.
