Sep 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first Senate debate on Wednesday between Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer and Republican opponent Carly Fiorina turned out to be an interesting one with each addressing disputes over their personal records along with a whole lot of other issues. Both Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina sweated themselves out at the debate floor addressing topics that ranged from the current job scenario of the state to change in child abortion rights to climate change. The hour long debate was held at St. Mary’s College in the eastern San Francisco Bay area.
At the debate, Senator Barbara Boxer was attacked by Carly Fiorina who said that the senator has done very little to achieve the great American dream that is continuously becoming a distant dream, difficult to achieve, as Barbara Boxer is doing very little to help the middle class. However, the senator retorted back by pointing at the record of Carly Fiorina as the former Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett-Packard. The company had reportedly fired more than 30,000 workers during Carly Fiorina’s tenure as CEO. She was dismissed by Hewlett-Packard back in 2005.
When asked about her three terms in the Senate, and if she would like any other person to get to the position, Senator Barbara Boxer held that it is for the voters to decide whether they would like her for yet another term at the office. Carly Fiorina on her part tried to portray Senator Barbra Boxer as an ineffective leader who had lost touch with the issues that are plaguing the people of California. She held that the liberal ideology of the Californians has led to higher taxes and more regulations for the businessmen and residents of the state and Sen. Barbara Boxer is doing nothing to help it.
