Firecracker hub Sivakasi wants another ‘a’ in its name
November 21st, 2009 - 11:50 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chennai, Nov 21 (IANS) The country’s firecracker capital Sivakasi has been bitten by a numerology bug and wants to add one more ‘a’ to its name so that the town is spelt as Sivakaasi. It is believed that changing the spelling will be propitious.
The 33-member municipal council unanimously passed the resolution Friday.
Several firecracker units suffered accidents this year due to the lack of safety norms. The spelling change is expected to ward off the evil eye.
According to the municipal vice chairman A.M.S.G.Ashokan, who is from the Congress party, the public believes there will be no unfortunate incidents if the town’s spelling is changed.
