Farmer suicides a matter of concern: Speaker

New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) Speaker Meira Kumar Tuesday expressed concern in the Lok Sabha over suicides by farmers in the country, particularly in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.
“Farmer suicide is a matter of concern. And a solution to this problem must be found out,” said the speaker when Congress MP Vilas Muttemwar questioned the agriculture minister on suicides in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.
MPs cutting across party lines thumped the desk to support the speaker’s remark.
