Shivraj PatilNew Delhi, Nov 30 (IANS) Calling Shivraj Patil’s resignation as home minister a symbolic gesture, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Brinda Karat said the Mumbai terror attack illustrated a failure of the intelligence system.”Whether Patil resigned on his own or was asked to resign is a different issue. It could be a symbolic gesture. The issue which concerns the country is the systemic failure, failure of intelligence equipments, the failure in intelligence gathering and lack of centre-state co-ordination,” Karat told reporters here.

At least 183 people were killed in the terror attacks in India’s financial capital from Wednesday and Saturday.
