Facebook event plans to dump trash on John Boehner’s door
April 9th, 2011 - 12:40 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, April 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Facebook event is urging people to support an idea to dump trash on the door steps of House Speaker, John Boehner, if indeed the government shuts down tonight.
Unless the deadlock is broken before midnight on Friday, the US government would shut down. If that happens then it would be the first time the country has experienced it. Shut down means the government can only fund projects which are considered essential. The White House led by the President is currently engaged in negotiations with Congress to reach a deal. If they fail to reach before midnight on Friday, the government wouldn’t be able to fund the country for the rest of the fiscal year.
Trash pickup service is one of the services that would be affected by the shut down.
The Facebook campaigners urge people to send their trash to the doorsteps of the Ohio Republican lawmaker. The page says, “If he won’t allow us to use OUR TAX DOLLARS to pick it up, maybe we should just BRING IT TO HIM.”
About 5,000 people have already checked the page out with some 546 indicating “maybe” they would send their trash to the Capitol.
