New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) Setting up international pressure on Pakistan in wake of the Mumbai terror attacks, the European Union (EU) Friday asked Islamabad to fulfil its counter-terrorism obligations and offered full support to India in the fight against terror.”The EU is directly asking Pakistan to fulfil its obligations in the field of counter-terrorism,” French ambassador Jerome Bonnafont, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU, told reporters here.
“Pakistan has the obligation to tack terrorism,” the French envoy stressed.
He also said the EU’s envoy on counter-terrorism will be visiting India early next year to strengthen cooperation in this area.
“It is absolutely clear what must be delivered… It is in the interests of Pakistan to do so,” Czech Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek told reporters when asked what action the 27 nation-EU will take when his country takes over the presidency next year.
The Czech Republic is due to take over the EU presidency in 2009.
