Elizabeth Warren starts her race for the US Senate
September 14th, 2011 - 10:44 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Sept 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren has embarked on her campaign trail in the bid to get to the US Senate. Elizabeth is fighting to get to Washington on the ticket of voters from Massachusetts. During her campaign launch on Wednesday, Elizabeth promised that she will fight for the middle class.
In a statement which was emailed ahead of the campaign, Warren wrote that, “Washington gives some of the biggest corporations in the world special loopholes and tax breaks, while middle-class families and small businesses struggle. This is wrong… Middle class families have been chipped at, hacked at, squeezed and hammered for a generation now, and I don’t think Washington gets it.”
She stated in the email that she has her sight on the seat of popular Republican Scott Brown. The contest between the two could be one of the closely fought in the next US elections. On Wednesday, the 62-year-old held a rally at the a train station in South Boston where she shared her ambition with voters.
The campaign will take Elizabeth to several other places and will end on Friday. Elizabeth was the head of the panel that set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which determines how bailout money should be spent.
