Jan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Elizabeth Edwards, the wife of former presidential candidate John Edwards, has expressed that she is extremely “relieved” with her husband’s acceptance that he fathered a daughter with a former campaign worker. Moreover, Elizabeth Edwards has also stated that she hopes that the revelation would bring to an end to the enormous and unnecessary media attention that her family has been receiving.

Elizabeth Edwards’s reaction comes on the heels of her husband’s public confession about fathering a child out-of-wedlock. The former senator admitted on Thursday that he indeed is the father of campaign videographer Rielle Hunter’s daughter, Frances Quinn. The child, who would be two years old this February, was the result of an illicit relationship that the former senator had with Rielle Hunter during his presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Edwards, who has been battling breast cancer since the year 2004, has stated that she believes even her estranged husband would be relieved to have accepted openly the paternity of his illicit child. However, Elizabeth Edwards has refused to divulge any details about her marital status although it is known that the former presidential candidate has been living separately from his wife. Meanwhile, the acceptance by the 56 year old politician confirms and at the same time brings to an end widespread speculations about the extramarital affair with the 45 year old campaign worker. The reports linking the former presidential nominee with Rielle Hunter surfaced in October 2007 although John Edwards initially denied the illicit relationship. However, later the former senator admitted to having an affair with the campaign videographer although he had refused to accept the paternity of the child.
