June 30, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Elizabeth Edwards, the former wife of once Presidential hopeful John Edwards, has been tired of her ‘Cuckolded Wife’ image. The bestselling author does not want people to remember her like that. She wants people to remember her for her own accomplishments.

The estranged wife of John Edwards, who had accepted infidelity with multiple women, said that she is at peace now.

In an interview with the ‘Today’ show, Elizabeth said that her husband had turned a different man after having a child with Rielle Hunter secretly at the time of his 2008 presidential campaign. She tried to reinvent her marriage for next two years but she got cheated again as John admitted having a relation with a videographer again. But even after the infidelity, separating from John was not easy for her.

In one of her books, Elizabeth wrote, “As I closed the door on the John of today, I had to bid adieu to the sweet John, my husband, whom I had loved so much. It is not that easy as people looking from outside may think.”

Elizabeth was not only fighting with the ‘Cuckolded wife’ tag, the lady was also diagnosed with cancer at that time. Recently, the cancer has been found to have metastasized to her legs, spine, and skull.

She has compared her condition to Sandra Bullock’s recent divorce. When asked if she has really discovered peace in her new situation, Elizabeth said, “I feel I have really found that. I really want to break free of the media imposed image. My identity is not that of a ‘cuckolded wife’. Whenever I am in television the next time, I expect people to discuss about policies that I really respect.”
