Albany, Apr 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The former Governor Eliot Spitzer who was embroiled in a prostitution scandal is thinking about a return to politics in the near future. According to sources, he confided his intentions to his close friends, that he is thinking about contesting for the statewide office in 2011.

It may be recalled that he was forced to leave Albany on a very sad note, as he was involved waist-deep in a prostitution scandal, around a year ago. But now he is eyeing the state comptroller or the US Senate seat, which is presently having Kirsten Gillibrand as the incumbent. And he has also have had some informal meetings in this regard, according to sources.

Eliot Spitzer confessed that he is “in unceasing agony” and “incredibly frustrated” over no longer being “where I would like to be [i.e., in the Governor's office]. Anybody who says disengaging from it in any way is easy is not being straightforward. Obviously, removing myself the way I did is that much more painful.” He also adds that he is eyeing the New York state comptroller seat as “he sees a chance to become a national force, wielding the billions held in public pension funds to force corporate reform in a way that even lawsuits and regulation cannot.”
