Electoral rolls in Puducherry to be revised
October 1st, 2009 - 11:27 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chennai, Oct 1 (IANS) With parliamentary elections over in May, election to its lone Rajya Sabha seat recently completed and no major poll in the near future, Election Commission officials in Puducherry are planning to revise the electoral rolls in the union territory.
S. Kumaraswamy, chief electoral officer of Puducherry, told IANS Thursday: “We plan to start the electoral roll revision beginning next year subject to permission from the Election Commission of India.”
The current rolls show 762,028 voters, with women outnumbering men — 395,240 to 366,788.
The union territory has 30 assembly and one Lok Sabha seat.
