New York, Nov 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Chelsea Clinton got engaged to Marc Mezvinsky who is the son of the former politician Ed Mezvinsky. The engagement happened on Thanksgiving and the wedding is expected in summer next year.

Ed Mezvinsky was in the news when he pleaded guilty in 2002 to duping investors to the tune of $10 million after he got embroiled in a Nigerian scam. He pleaded guilty to 31 of 69 charges of bank fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud in 2001, and then Mezvinsky went on to serve federal prison time and was released April 11, 2008.

Before serving time in prison, Ed Mezvinsky was a Philadelphia lawyer and self-styled international businessman too, but he was always a scammer at heart. Apparently he hatched a string of fraudulent activity the FBI later said infiltrated nearly every one of his business deals between the time period from 1980 to 2000.

Meanwhile he is in the limelight now, as his son Marc an investment banker at Goldman Sachs is all set to wed the former US President Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea next year.

Both of them met in Washington DC as teenagers and their friendship blossomed into love when they both started attending the Stanford University. There were rumors that they would marry earlier this year in August, but Hillary Clinton said that they were baseless. Both of them are currently based in New York, where Marc is working at Goldman Sachs and Chelsea is studying at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.
