Doug Hoffman New York, Oct 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A popularity poll released by a conservative group finds Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman leading the Nov. 3 special election race for New York’s 23rd District. This has happened for the second time in 2 consecutive days.

Hoffman leads Democrat Bill Owens by 5 points and GOP nominee Dede Scozzafava by 20 points.

Former US senator, 2008 presidential contender Fred Thompson is promoting Doug Hoffman. He stars in a new TV ad for NY-23 candidate Doug Hoffman in which he urges voters to “send a message to Washington” by voting for the Conservative nominee.

However on the other hand, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is asking conservative activists to re-think their support for a third-party candidate in a key upcoming New York special election as a “mistake.”

In a video which was taken last week and posted on YouTube on Friday, Newt Gingrich told organizer Lisa Miller at a book-signing event that conservatives are unknowingly hindering the cause by backing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman over Dede Scozzafava, the Republican Party’s nominee.
