Don’t understand why Team Anna members quit: Medha Patkar
October 18th, 2011 - 10:19 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 18 (IANS) Activist Medha Patkar Tuesday said she did not understand why Team Anna members P.B. Rajagopal and Rajendra Singh distanced themselves from the anti-graft campaign.
“They had not been able to take out enough time for this movement. So, I don’t understand what the immediate reason is,” Patkar told news channel CNN-IBN.
Magsaysay award winner Rajendra Singh and activist Rajagopal Tuesday resigned from the movement, citing Arvind Kejriwal’s allegedly autocratic decisions and the political activities of the group.
Defending Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi, who have been on the forefront of the movement, Patkar said: “All the members are not available all the time. So the core persons who were available full time were in front.”
“We are trying to be as democratic as possible,” she added.
According to Patkar, who supported Hazare’s fast for the Jan Lokpal bill here, the movement needs more “dialogue and communication” as it is under the scanner of everybody.
