Don’t delink terrorism from talks: BJP

New Delhi, March 29 (IANS) Ahead of the talks between the prime ministers of India and Pakistan Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said Tuesday that the government should not delink the issue of terrorism from the bilateral dialogue.
The opposition party also stressed that justice must be ensured for the victims of the 26/11 terror attack.
BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said here Tuesday that the government should ensure that Pakistan gives enough assurances on the issue of cross-border terrorism before restarting the composite dialogue process between the two countries.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani will hold talks in Chandigarh, where the two leaders will meet over the World Cup cricket semifinal match between India and Pakistan in nearby Mohali.
“The government cannot delink terror from talks,” Sitharaman said.
Sitharaman said Pakistan was not properly monitoring cases of the accused in the Nov 26, 2008 attack in Mumbai when 166 people were killed by terrorists from that country.
“It is important to ensure that justice be done to 26/11 victims. The Indian government should assert itself,” she said.
