Do not use marshals in Lok Sabha, says BJP

New Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Condemning the use of force to evict members from the Rajya Sabha Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday said the government should not use marshals during the debate on the women’s reservation bill in the Lok Sabha as it “lowers dignity of the house”.
“Do not bring marshals in the Lok Sabha. Do not lower the dignity of the house,” Gopinath Munde, BJP deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, told reporters here.
He said it was for the government to ensure proper floor management if it needed majority support to the pass the bill that seeks to reserve a third of all seats in legislatures for women.
He said BJP leaders, including Arun Jaitley, had urged the government not to use marshals. He reiterated the BJP’s full support to the women’s bill.
Asked about the demand for revoking the suspension of seven Rajya Sabha members for unruly behaviour, Munde said the government should bring a “suo motto” motion to withdraw their suspension.
The seven suspended MPs belong to the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party.
