DMK to discuss ties with Congress July 23-24
June 25th, 2011 - 6:51 pm ICT by IANSChennai, June 25 (IANS) The DMK will deliberate on the nature of its relationship with other political parties, including the Congress, at a two-day meeting of its general council in Coimbatore July 23-24, the party said Saturday.
The meeting will be chaired by DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi at the textile city, about 500 km from here.
Two of DMK’s parliamentarians - Lok Sabha member Andimuthu Raja, former communications minister, and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, daughter of Karunanidhi - are in jail for their alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
In addition, the continuation of union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran in the government is also under cloud as allegations have been made against him for arm twisting mobile telephony company Aircel’s founder C. Sivasankaran to sell his stakes in the firm.
