Kuala Lumpur, Feb 20 (IANS) Malaysian Indian lawmaker M. Manoharan has been confronted with an unusual threat — he must divorce his wife within seven days.
If he fails, the former leading light of the banned Hindu Rights Action Front (Hindraf) has been told that a damaging video clip of his wife with an unidentified man would be posted onluine, China Press said Saturday.
Manoharan has lodged a police report. But The Star newspaper said he had declined to comment.
The video was allegedly recorded when Manoharan was detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for organising an anti-government rally meant to highlight the grievances of Malaysia’s 1.5 million Tamil Hindus.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak released Manoharan and four others from detention last year.
