Dikshit’s two security men to be tried for harassing woman (Lead)
December 8th, 2011 - 10:38 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) A Delhi court Thursday framed charges against two suspended security personnel attached to the convoy of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in a case of outraging modesty of a 23-year-old woman in June. They will face trial from March 24, 2012.
The driver and the security guard of a vehicle in the chief minister’s convoy were arrested for misbehaving with the daughter of a priest near Pragati Maidan.
Metropolitan Magistrate Navita Kumari Bagha framed charges against Jagdish Kumar Vaishist and Rajesh Kumar for intentionally insulting the woman June 1.
“Jagdish Kumar Vaishist and Rajesh Kumar, on June 1 at 10 p.m. at a point near Hanuman Mandir, New Delhi, you both in furtherance of your common intention uttered indecent words with intent to outrage the modesty of complainant and both hereby committed an offence punishable under section 509/34 (acts intending to insult the modesty of a woman and common intention) IPC (Indian Penal Code) within my cognisance,” said the magistrate.
The court said that the trial would commence March 24.
Meanwhile, it has summoned four of the prosecution witnesses, including complainant, for the recording of their statements.
