January 15th, 2011 - 10:30 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 15 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Saturday interacted with legislators from all constituencies in the capital on developmental issues. There was a consensus in the meeting to rename slum colonies. A number of legislators demanded reorganization of ration circles. Some legislators demanded extension of Metro routes.
Dikshit appreciated that the legislators gave their suggestions, views and highlighted problems.
“The exercise will prove to be helpful in ensuring a people-friendly approach while implementing various schemes of the government,” Dikshit said.
As part of the on-going process, she interacted with legislators from Chandni Chowk and South Delhi parliamentary constituencies in two separate marathon meetings held at Delhi Secretariat.
Union Human Resource Development Minister and Chandni Chowk MP Kapil Sibal and South Delhi MP Ramesh Kumar were also present in the meetings presided over by the chief minister.
All Delhi ministers, legislators, top officials and Municipal Corporation of Delhi commissioner were present along with their officers.
Sibal stressed upon the need of long term planning to systematically relocate wholesale trade from the old city, replacing hanging electricity wire with underground cables, development of slum clusters and removing obstacles coming in the way of construction of the Azadpur flyover.
