Washington, Mar 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS)It seems that President Barack Obama’s battle to get the much hyped Healthcare bill approved is yielding some positive results. Te bill has become a matter of serious controversy in the US political circles with the Republicans opposing it by all means. To make matters worse for the President and his party, a section of the Democrats are not agreeing with him over the bill yet. The Cleveland Democrat, Rep. Dennis Kucinich was among those few democrats who raised their voice against the bill. However, he has changed his stance and given his nod recently. The change came yesterday morning when he gave a short speech at a press conference informing everyone about this new decision.
It is being assumed that the pressure from Nancy Pelosi, the house speaker and the President did the trick. In fact the President spent some time with Rep. Dennis Kucinich on Monday and he tried to persuade the democrat about saying yes to the bill. However, the politician said that even after agreeing to the bill, he continues to have difference of opinions with other proponents of the bill. The speaker needs to gather 216 supports to get the bill passed finally.
On Wednesday morning, when Dennis Kucinich addressed the media, the TV networks kept their cameras fixed on him. He hogged the limelight for the time and his volte face on the bill drew scathing criticism from the Republicans who almost assumed that he would not say yes. While Dennis Kucinich said that the bill will not do much to stop the excesses practiced by the insurance companies, it will make the system ready for further changes.
