Demonstrations in Gujarat to back Hazare

Gandhinagar, Aug 16 (IANS) The anti-corruption campaign of Anna Hazare found support in Gujarat Tuesday with people from all walks of life demonstrating in several cities in the state.
Demonstrations were organised in various parts of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar.
In Ahmedabad, the agitation was led by the People’s Union for Civil Liberties with other outfits also joining in.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also criticised the Congress for Hazare’s arrest in New Delhi.
Gujarat BJP president R.C. Faldu condemned Hazare’s arrest and said that the party would hold rallies across the state Aug 17.
