nancy pelosiNov 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Several weeks of uncertainty and anxiousness finally came to an end, when Nancy Pelosi was elected as the minority leader on Wednesday with an overwhelming 150 to 43 vote. She has gracefully reigned as the speaker of the House of Representatives, but the defeat of the Democrats certainly did not reduce her popularity and confidence that she has been commanding.

Nancy Pelosi will start serving her office from January to lead the 112th Congress Minority. She defeated her only challenger, Rep. Heath Schuler. She apparently survived several frictions that were not only offered from the Republicans and also some of her own party members which included U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop who said that he would not support Nancy Pelosi’s bid to be the minority leader. The Bishop said there is always a reason for every thing. He took into account the opinion of both who supported him and went against him and came to the conclusion that her season has passed. He also said that he cannot support her nomination for the 112th congress minority leader with good conscience.

Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand believes that all the lack of confidence and poor public image has resulted from the consistent slander of her name that came up from the Republicans throughout the campaigns. She asked what would the rating of a person be if $75 million were spent to defame someone. However, the confident ex-speaker also added that that she is person who has the ability to attract the resources both intellectual and otherwise, as she has done it before. With the same spirit, she anticipates to continue with her terms as the leader of the minority party in the House of Representatives.
