Democrat leader wants public to give politics a chance
December 20th, 2007 - 1:09 pm ICT by adminThe Democrat Party leader, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva (อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ), asks members of the public to refrain from thinking about former leaders in the past who, he claims, have impaired the country. He also calls for the public to give Thai politics another chance.
This morning (December 20th), Mr. Abhisit says if the Democrat Party has a chance to form the new government, he would invite the Chart Thai Party to join forces with this party because both of them are in cordial terms and have been working together for a long time. However, he says it would be up to Chart Thai Party leader Banharn Silpa-archa (บรรหาร ศิลปอาชา)’s decision and perspective on the Democrat’s populist policy.
Mr. Abhisit also asks the Election Commission (EC) to continue to work hard in suppressing vote-buying activities. Recently, officials have found 1.3 million baht in cash at an election canvasser’s residence, and investigation is underway.
