antWashington, July 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) New York City congressman Anthony Weiner lost his temper on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday night when the $7 billion measure to provide aid to people who fell ill due to the dust at the Ground Zero was being discussed. The 45-year-old Democratic politician embarked on a tirade against his Republican opponents for allegedly resorting to techniques to derail the bill that would have given aid to the firefighters who were present on the scene of Ground Zero in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Launching into a rant against the Republicans, Anthony Weiner slammed Republican Peter King for covering up his colleagues rather than doing the right thing and went on to add that it was a ’shame.’ The tussle between the two New York congressman developed over the disagreement about how the bill was put in front of the chamber. The Democratic leader wanted to consider the bill under a particular procedure that calls for two-thirds vote for being approved instead of a complete majority. However, Republican Peter King lashed out at the Democrats by saying that they were ‘petrified’ about casting votes in amendments while adding that the bill held much more importance than a “campaign talking point”.

However, the comments made by the Republican leader attracted the ire of the Democrats who in turn pointed fingers at the Republicans for not giving the much needed support to the bill. The democrats also contended that Republican Peter King was not taking the necessary steps to gather more GOP support for the proposal.
