Delhi MP raises demand for full statehood
December 14th, 2009 - 11:16 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) Delhi MP J.P. Aggarwal Monday raised the demand for full statehood for Delhi in parliament Monday, saying full powers would help in speedy development of the city.
“In parliament, I have demanded full statehood to Delhi, so that it would be easy in taking decisions and ensuring development of city,” Aggarwal told IANS.
“Law and order should also be brought under the state government,” he added.
Aggarwal, who is Lok Sabha member from northeast Delhi, said his Congress party has been demanding full statehood for so many years but the central government is yet to take decision on the issue.
