Dan Rather’s watermelon remark lands him in controversy
March 13th, 2010 - 9:23 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkMar 13 (Pen Men at Work): Dan Rather, who has made a name for himself nationally to a certain extent with uncomplicated tales, has now created one about Republicans. At the same time, he is elevating eyebrows for a wisecrack connecting advertising watermelons and the U.S. President Obama.
Dan Rather, the earlier anchorman for CBS news, now discovers himself in some unpalatable predicament. This situation has happened after he was responsible for spinning a racially infested anecdote about how the Republicans will be spoiling for a fight in the fall elections and how they are going to expose President Obama. Rather was making an emergence on the ‘Chris Matthews Show’ on Sunday when he was asked about what he considered would be the Republican line of attack. Rather then whipped up an anecdote that has elevated the eyebrows of all concerned. He reportedly mentioned that the Republicans will bring up Obama as a pleasant person, who is enormously expressive but an unproductive chief who will not be able to put on the market the watermelons if you provided him the state troopers to shout at the traffic
Rather declared that the Republicans will create the case in an effort to bring to their camp the independent electorate. A parallel racially linked blooper resulted in the mayor of Los Alamitos of California losing his employment when he dispatched an e-mail illustrating watermelons on the front lawn of the White House. The mayor subsequently proclaimed that he was unacquainted with the stereotype that black African-Americans were fond of watermelons.
Nevertheless, he did give up his job over the upheaval.
