Dalai Lama ‘Very Happy’ After Meeting US President Barack Obama

Washington DC, Feb 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) President Barack Obama, who has always tried to strengthen the relationship of United States with other countries of the world has earned criticism of China, after he held a meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. It has been reported that the spiritual leader Dalai Lama, has been ‘very happy’ after he met the US President at the White House in Washington D.C.
The news that the US President had decided to meet the Tibetan spiritual leader earned criticism from the Chinese people. Reports indicated that the Chinese even asked the president to drop the plan of meeting the Tibetan leader, who is in exile. However, the president did not change his decision to meet Dalai Lama and welcomed him yesterday on the White House.As per the reports, Dalai Lama, who was invited as a spiritual leader held his meeting in the Map Room. Generally, the president meets the world leaders in his Oval Office but he had not opted for the same place for Dalai Lama. It has been reported that the president’s meeting with Dalai Lama might have earned praises from different people but it had enraged the Chinese government.
The government officials of China had strongly opposed against the meeting of the US President with Dalai Lama. It has been reported that the Chinese has indicated that the international relation of China with the United States will be affected for this meeting. Sources indicate that the Chinese officials who were always against this meeting stated that the move of President Barack Obama has “seriously damaged” Sino-US tie.
