Cynthia Hampton Illicitly Involved With Senator John Ensign

Senator John Ensign confided to the Associated Press that he was sorry for his illicit relation with former campaign aide Cynthia Hampton. The politician said he had no plans to resign and would fulfill his 6 year term at office.
The Senator on Wednesday told sources that he was not like Bill Clinton who had an affair with the White House intern Monica Lewinsky because like the President he had not lied under oath about his liaison with a friend’s wife.
“I haven’t done anything legally wrong” the Nevada Republican protested.” President Clinton stood right before the American people and he lied to the American people.”
Ensign in his opening speech acknowledged his affair as a ‘distraction’, saying, “I think it would be inappropriate to start any other way than to say I’m sorry. I’ve said I’m sorry. I can’t say I’m sorry enough. I made a big mistake in my life and I apologize once again to all of you.”
Citizens For Responsibility and Ethics in Washington will be investigating into the scandal by calling in The Senate Ethics Committee and The Federal Elections Commission reportedly.
CREW’s executive director Melanie Sloan pointed out that Ensign was distinguishing the Clinton affair from his own moreover as an attempt to portray that his situation was by far less contemptible.
Ensign candidly accepted that his people might see him in poor light and a somewhat contradictory standpoint because he had called in for Clinton’s resignation for the Lewinsky involvement but when he seemed to be sailing in the same boat he was refusing to resign.
