Mamata Banerjee Kolkata, Dec 12 (IANS) Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Sunday slammed West Bengal’s ruling Marxists for failing to generate employment during their 33-year regime and alleged that they were trying to hinder the progress of the railways.”The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has not done anything for the generation of employment within the state. And now they are criticising me on the issue of employment generation in the railways,” Banerjee said in Howrah, some 32 km from here.

“How come, you have not done anything on providing employment all these years,” she asked.

Declaring that those trying to sabotage the railways operations will be punished, the minister took an apparent dig at her bete noire CPI-M, saying: “I am ready to fight politically but causing damage to the Railway properties and causing harm to the passengers is not the right way.”

“People found guilty for sabotaging the railways will be punished,” she added.

Praising the railway employees, she said: “Our employees are sincere and dedicated towards their work. Railway sabotages take place not due to the carelessness of the employees, but because of the misdeeds of the miscreants.”
