CPI flays Congress, Trinamool on economic policies
April 15th, 2011 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, April 15 (IANS) Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary A.B. Bardhan Friday slammed the faulty economic policies of the Congress-led central government for inflation and added that the Trinamool Congress cannot isolate itself from these polices.
“The economic policies of the central government are causing most of the problems in the country, including corruption, price hike and economic disparity,” Bardhan said at a press conference here.
Criticising the union government’s taxation policy, he said: “You will be amused to see that the union budget is just Rs.12 lakh crore and the profit before tax earned by the corporate sector is more than Rs.8 lakh crore. Despite all the profit earned, the effective tax rate is 23.53 percent”.
“Another fact is that last year, tax rebate given to the corporate in the budget was Rs.72,882 crore. This year the tax concession was Rs.88,263 crore. More and more the corporate gets concession more and more the revenue loss to the government,” the CPI leader said.
Taking a potshot at the Trinamool Congress, the CPI leader said: “I have never heard the Trinamool Congress raised a little finger against price rise, corruption, tax concessions and economic disparity. They cannot isolate itself from the policies of the centre.”
