Cop dubbed unstable by Mayawati out of hospital
November 8th, 2011 - 5:13 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 8 (IANS) The Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who was put under psychiatric treatment after he termed the Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government “most corrupt” was Tuesday discharged from hospital, an official here said.
D.D. Misra, deputy inspector general (DIG) in the state fire service, who had last Friday (Nov 4) labelled the Mayawati government as the “most corrupt regime ever”, had been forcibly taken to hospital by authorities.
He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and admitted to the geriatric mental health department of the Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU) that night itself.
“Taking into account the day by day improvement in the condition of the IPS officer, he has been discharged,” S.N. Sankhwar, CSMMU medical superintendent, told reporters Tuesday.
“For some medical examinations, Misra will again have to visit the hospital after a week,” he added.
Misra had made direct accusations not only against top Uttar Pradesh officials but also against Mayawati, whom he blamed for the death of a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Harminder Raj Singh, who was officially stated to have shot himself in 2010.
The interview was telecast on IBN7 news channel.
The Mayawati government had Saturday ordered a high-level probe into the allegations even as it labelled him mentally unstable.
