New Delhi, Jan 13 (IANS) The Congress will benefit if party president Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Vadra contests the Lok Sabha elections, the party said Tuesday.“If Priyanka contests election, it would benefit the party. She along with (her brother and MP) Rahul Gandhi are youth icons and the future belongs to the youth,” Congress spokesman M. Veerappa Moily told reporters here.
Demands have been made by Congress leaders from Lucknow, Allahabad, Kanpur, Sultanpur, Noida and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh that Priyanka must contest the coming general elections.
Moily said: “This is a spontaneous demand and it has been a popular demand in the past as well. As for the decision to contest, it has to be taken by Priyanka.”
