Congress slams BJP for holding function inside Bhopal airport

Bhopal, Dec 29 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress Tuesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for “violating” the security of Bhopal airport by holding a function within its premises to welcome newly-appointed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
Taking strong exception to the incident, the Congress has asked the BJP leaders concerned to offer a public apology so that such acts of indiscipline were not repeated in future.
“It is unfortunate that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP state president Narendra Singh Tomar disregarded the security of airport by organising a welcome meeting for Sushma Swaraj at the state hangar area, which is deplorable,” Congress’ state unit spokesman J.P. Dhanopia said.
Alleging that the BJP party workers were well known for indiscipline, he said it was surprising that the chief minister misused his authority to organise a function at the airport, putting its security at peril.
Dhanopia also claimed that no permission was sought from the authorities for organising such a function at the airport premises.
Dhanopia recalled that two years ago activists of the Bajrang Dal had entered the Indore airport and forcefully stopped a plane’s takeoff.
