New Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) The Congress Wednesday downplayed remarks of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of party president Sonia Gandhi, that there was huge pressure on him to contest from Sultanpur in 2009 Lok Sabha elections and that he could win an election from anywhere in the country.
“Every individual in a democracy has a right to articulate his view point,” party spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters when asked about Vadra’s remarks in an interview to a national daily.
In the interview, Vadra said that he would join politics if he felt he knew enough about it and if he could make a difference.
He said that he did not even indulge in the thought of joining politics for the present and enjoyed his business, fitness regime and other pursuits and company of his children.
Vadra said he accompanied his wife Priyanka Gandhi during poll campaigns.
