Chennai, July 17 (IANS) Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Thursday said he “did not agree” with Left leader Prakash Karat that the Congress was “a sinking ship”. Expressing confidence that the Manmohan Singh government will win the trust vote July 22, the DMK leader said, “If the present government falls, those who reposed faith in democracy and the people of the country will get angry.”

The DMK leader was talking to the media after a high-level meeting here.

“I am confident that the Congress-led government will win the confidence vote in parliament”, he said.

Karunanidhi was also confident that estranged DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran would follow the party whip and “vote for the Manmohan Singh government in the trust vote”.
