Congress names 78 more nominees for Uttar Pradesh poll

Lucknow, Nov 16 (IANS) The Congress party Wednesday released in New Delhi a list of 78 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in 2012, a party official here said.
“It is the third list of the party’s candidates that has been released by Congress general secretary Oscar Fernandes for the forthcoming state assembly elections,” said Subodh Srivastava, Congress spokesperson in Uttar Pradesh.
“Over 200 candidates have been announced by the Congress till now,” he added.
According to the list, Ramesh Srivastava will be fielded from Lucknow East, while Fakhir Siddiqui will contest from Lucknow Central.
The assembly has 403 constituencies. The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party won in 206 constituencies in the last elections.
