November 17th, 2009 - 7:22 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhopal, Nov 17 (IANS) Members of the Congress, the main opposition, Tuesday walked out of the Madhya Pradesh assembly to express their dissatisfaction over the government’s reply to a question over the role of the chief minister’s secretariat in an alleged mining royalty scam.
Raising the matter during Question Hour, Congress’ Chaudhary Rakesh Singh demanded a judicial probe or an investigation by a house committee into the alleged mining royalty scam worth crores of rupees in Katni district. He alleged that orders favouring a mining company were passed after intervention of the chief minister’s secretariat.
In his reply, Minister of State for Mineral Resources Rajendra Shukla said a probe committee had also been constituted, strict measures were initiated against the guilty and the Katni district collector has already been suspended for laxity.
However, dissatisfied with the reply, the Congress members led by the Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi staged a walkout.
