Congress leaders attack BJP, RSS on terror links

New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS) Congress general secretaries Shakeel Ahmed and Digvijay Singh Friday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on the alleged links of RSS leader Indresh Kumar with terrorist activities. “For the past few days several media reports have said Indresh Kumar was given Rs.70,000 by an accused in the case of RSS activist Sunil Joshi’s murder,” Ahmed told reporters here.
He said the revelations have strengthened the suspicion against the right-wing radicals.
“Though RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat had declared that there is no place for radicals in the organisation, that is not enough. Despite all these reports, why is the BJP and the RSS keeping quiet?” he asked.
Digvijay Singh said Hindu Mahasabha founder Veer Sarvarkar had the “original idea of the two-nation theory which was later adopted by Jinnah (founder of Pakistan).”
Singh’s statement drew support from the Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Sitaram Yechury.
“The partition of India happened because the twin radical strains of both Hindutva and Islam were adamant. But despite the fact that India became a secular republic, attempts are being made to convert it into a Hindutva state,” Yechury had earlier said.
The CPI-M leader said that terrorism is not a part of only one community. “It is not right to assume that Hindus cannot be terrorists,” he said.
