New Delhil, Jan 12 (IANS) The Congress has started organising rallies in states to counter the opposition tirade on corruption following party president Sonia Gandhi’s directive during the party’s plenary here last month, party officials said Wednesday.Gandhi had told party general secretaries to organise rallies to counter the opposition’s campaign on corruption, suggested constitution of coordination committees for improved intra-party interface and panels to oversee implementation of central government schemes.
Party sources said that the rallies to counter the opposition tirade on the issue of corruption, particularly its demand for a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the second generation airwave allocation scam, had already begun in Maharashtra.
A party leader said that rallies will soon begin in other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Gujarat.
“Rallies will be held in all assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh,” he said.
The party is also putting in place a three-tier mechanism at the block, district and state level to oversee implementation of central schemes.
The sources said that party workers have made several complaints to the leadership about state governments seeking to claim credit for central schemes.
