Congress ahead in Kerala vote count (Lead)
November 10th, 2009 - 11:29 am ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Nov 10 (IANS) Congress candidates were Tuesday leading in all three assembly constituencies in Kerala that saw by-elections Saturday, officials and party leaders said.
A.P. Abdulla Kutty led in Kannur, a traditional Congress stronghold. “We are are winning easily,” Congress leader Sunny Joseph said in Kannur.
In Ernakulam, initial trends showed that Congress’ Dominic Presentation had consolidated his position in the initials rounds of counting over his Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) rival P.N. Seenulal.
In Alappuzha, although A.A. Shukur (Congress) led by almost 1,000 votes, G. Krishnaprasad from the Communist Party of India was giving him a tough fight, officials said.
