Coming West Bengal polls will be the bloodiest: Agnivesh

Kolkata, Jan 2 (IANS) Apprehending that the coming assembly polls will be the most violent in West Bengal’s history, social activist Swami Agnivesh Sunday appealed to the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) led Left Front to hand over power to the Trinamool Congress.”The coming assembly election will the bloodiest in Bengal’s history. The CPI-M has already said there will be violence. I have spoken to Trinamool Congress leaders. They say their workers are ready to confront CPI-M cadres,” Agnivesh told media persons here.
Assailing both parties, he alleged that parties in the democratic system were behaving like Maoists. “And in this battle for power, the aam admi (common man) will sufer”.
“After 34 years of rule, the CPI-M should hand over power to Trinamool Congress. Then, after five years the people will bring back the CPI-M again. I think five years will be enough for (Trinamool chief) Mamata Banerjee,” said Agnivesh.
The social activist said intellectuals, including former state Human Rights Commission chief Shayman Sen, will appeal to both Chief Minister Buddahdeb Bhattacharjee and Mamata Banerjee to stop the violence.
