Christine O’Donnell Shocks GOP By Her Win
September 16th, 2010 - 7:20 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkSeptember 16, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Christine O’Donnell’s win in the Republican Senate primary on Tuesday saw a bitter lashing of words by GOPs which was replete with backbiting. The Democrats can certainly take heart from this and hope to avoid a disaster in November.
She won by 6 points over her rival Mike Castle who is a Republican veteran and immediately mocked the GOP fight as ‘Republican Cannibalism’. She went on to say that she had the support of a lot of people who were frustrated by the way the Republican Party has lost its way.
The National Republican senatorial committee had been undecided about supporting O’Donnell at the polls. The Texas Senator, John Cornyn had announced sending a $42,000 check to O’Donnell for the general election.
Karl Rove, the political advisor to President George. W. Bush stated that O’Donnell had a penchant for saying ‘nutty’ things and the easy seat of Delaware had really been tossed aside by her nomination.
Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska dismissed Rove’s words and laughed at Christine O’Donnell’s quip on cannibalism. She said that there were fewer of them in the GOP than within them. O’Donnell had the national spotlight focused on her by virtue of Palin’s support.
The squabbling by the GOP tea party had the White House Press secretary, Robert Gibbs going back on his own words. He had earlier warned that the Democrats might lose the Congress. He seems to have regained confidence now and stated that they will regain the control of both the house as well as the Senate.
Roy Sekoff, the editor at HuffPost said that they needed to erect a tombstone in the memory of the moderate Republicans. He was speaking on the Ed Show on Wednesday night.
