Chinese labourers in Jharkhand factory: probe ordered
March 11th, 2011 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, March 11 (IANS) The Jharkhand government Friday said it would probe the visas of Chinese labourers working in a private steel factory in the state’s Bokaro district.
“We will probe the issue and submit a report in the house,” Labour Minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary told the legislators who were demanding a probe by an assembly panel.
The issue was raised by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) legislator Samresh Singh who wanted to know the status of Chinese working in Electrosteel company in Bokaro district.
Supporting the demand, Uma Kant Razak of All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), which is a part of the ruling alliance, said: “The state government should probe whether the Chinese labourers working in the company arrived on a tourist visa or a labour visa”.
“Around 1,000 Chinese labourers are working at the company at cost of the local labourers,” he said.
