dalai Beijing, Feb 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) China pleaded with the US administration on Friday to cancel the President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama. China and US already have strained relations and this meeting seems like, it will break the camel’s back. China has repeatedly warned US, that if the talks are held then they would hurt the ties between the 2 countries. “China firmly opposes the Dalai Lama visiting the United States and U.S. leaders’ contacting with him,” foreign ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu as saying.

It may be recalled that the meeting between the 2 leaders is said to take place later this month. China has always pointed a finger at the Dalai Lama, for his stance on the Tibetan independence. And Dalai Lama has always denied this accusation. China also wants that any country, which wants to have bilateral ties with it, should shun the Tibetan leader Dalai Lama.

Dalai Lama would visit Washington DC on February 17-18. It is still not clear whether the US President would meet the monk in the Oval Office, or in a less formal place.
